Description
Immerse your space in the festive energy of an indigenous Indian marriage ritual. In Warli culture, a painting isn't merely decorative; it is a vital part of a sacred ceremony. This stunning 12x12 inch canvas brings the central canvas of a Warli wedding right into your modern living space, crafted by hand by traditional artisan Sanjay Parhad. The high-contrast combination of pure white paint against a traditional brick-red backdrop creates a striking, geometric elegance. At the core of this canvas is an incredibly intricate square enclosure, bordered by ornate patterns that replicate the lace-and-bamboo architecture of sacred alters.
About the Artwork
The Sacred Marriage Shrine (Chauk) This piece is a contemporary canvas rendition of the Lagnacha Chauk (the wedding square), which is traditionally painted on the mud walls of the bride's house by married women (Savasinis) before a wedding can take place. Without this painting, the wedding cannot be sanctified. The border of the square represents the protective walls of the universe. Inside the inner square sits the goddess Palaghata (the deity of fertility and childbirth), drawn with a distinctive hour-glass body.

Colour Disclaimer
Due to variances in digital monitor displays, screen brightness, and professional photographic lighting, the exact shade of the terracotta-red background and white linework may vary slightly from what appears on your screen. Because each painting is 100% hand-rendered by an authentic tribal artisan, minor variations in geometric symmetry and paint application are natural elements that prove its handmade authenticity.
